Not exaggerating at all, but this is by far the best app I have paid for. I have spent up to $29.99 for a remote access app, and iMalt is by far worth more than that. This app it worth every penny.
If you only taste Scotches at bars or own 50+ like me, this app is perfect for tracking, reviewing and learning about Scotch.
This is definitely a must. And this app is even better with the new IMalt cloud sync that is coming. I have beta tested it and now you don’t have to worry about losing your data and you can see what others are saying and get information pushed to your iPhone.

This is an excellent application for any single malt drinker/collector. The only reason I did not give it five stars is because some fairly common bottles are not listed. However you do have the option of adding them your self, you just have to input the data and upload a picture.

It does what they advertise. It has a well rounded list of bottles, distilleries and regions. It’s great for keeping your tasting notes, inventory and shopping list. It is adaptable to you.
I agree that it would be great to have access to the tasting notes of others. But I’m sure that would make it cost much more.
It would also be good if the list of bottles would update maybe twice a year to add new bottles and add notes to current listings that reflect their discontinuance or that they have sold out at the distillery. Awards received by individual bottles would also be great.

Great tool for tracking and enjoying single malts. The fields prompt you input for color, body, nose, etc. The prompts help develop your nose and palate. Most distilleries and bottlings included and searchable by general taste, a nice feature for the novice. Team this up with Michael Jackson’s book, a good nosing glass, and your set.

This app has it all. It is well designed, good looking, and flexible. You can add your own malts and distilleries including pictures. I had a tech support question and got a very useful answer within a few hours. The good thing is that it is actively being developed and should continue to get even better.

This app is with out question the best app of it’s kind. I’ve tried them all. The developer is very responsive and comunovative about updates and fixes. It could certainly be faster. But it’s an excellent tool for tracking tastings. I like that you can add your own distilleries and malts.

This is a great app for those with a big collection of scotches or those just starting one. The ability to add your own notes to each distillery and keep a list of the ones you still want to get is thw best feature. I would give it 5 stars if they also incorporated expert opinions with each scotch. For a novice like me that would be most helpful. Otherwise this is a must have for lovers of scotch.

The addtion of the Tasting Event section to the latest version of iMalts makes a handy app an essential one for the true whisky fan. I quickly transferred my scatter sheaf of notes to the iMalts tasting section and was amazed at the number of malts I’ve sampled since my introduction to them a year ago. What’s more, when I’m contemplating a purchase, I can quickly and easily refer to my iMalts app to make sure I’m making the most informed choice possible. The new Whisky Talk section is fun and helpful for the near-neophyte like me. A nice addition. iMalts is the must-have app for anyone interested in single malts.

Excellent format. A few omissions needing remedy-such as Mortlach (should have the DB/OB at least). Could do with scoring also by a respected expert so it acts as a guide too which would be good to guide future purchasing. Nice App and trust my investment in this rewarded by some great updates. But this is perhaps the best start for any Whisky App. Well done but keep up the good work.

Although i do not have a very sophisticated pallet at the moment, I’m a big fan of single malts and I enjoy tasting a different whisky every couple of weeks or so. I wanted to improve my understanding of the complexities of the tastes, whilst also hewing a record of what I had tasted and was looking for an app that did that. I picked this one and am very glad I did. It does everything I wanted it to do. Thanks to the developer!

Good for starters

I think the developer should merge this app with iBlends and have one fantastic whisky app with a consistent interface. I’d like to see improvements to the tasting notes, eg, layman’s terms with more examples of smells you should detect in that range. The taste also could be more descriptive to help beginners get used to the jargon etc. More examples of the brands need to be included too for when I’m in the shop and trying to choose between a few brands I can have a quick look at this app. There have been a few where there was no mention of the brand or of a particular age. I recommend getting this and look forward to future upgrades.

Reicht der Ardbeg noch für 4 Freunde? Welcher Whisky schmeckte mir beim Tasting beim Händler Vinum so gut? Was für ein Whisky war das, den ich letztens ausgetrunken hatte? Welchen Whisky gibt es noch von dieser Destillerie oder aus der Gegend? All das kann man leicht mit iMalts machen. Alles ist gut gegliedert nach Destillerie, Gegend, Geschmacksrichtung, Flaschen die man besitzt, die man getrunken hat, die man sucht/möchte sortiert zu finden. Außerdem kann man neue oder unbekannte lokale kleine Destillerien und Malts mit Bild selber ergänzen. So kann man die vielen bereits ab Werk angelegten jederzeit selber ergänzen. Auch, falls es mal keine Updates mehr geben sollte. Man ist also gerüstet für viele neue Whiskyerfahrungen die man mit iMalt sortieren, pflegen und vergleichen kann.

De userinterface van deze app werkt gewoon subliem, maar als je een overzicht wil van single malts in Schotland, kom je toch een beetje bedrogen uit. Van mijn eigen collectie whisky die ik opzocht in deze app, vond ik er een tiental niet terug. Zelfs Johnie Walker Green, die toch wel een zeer bekende single malt is, stond er niet tussen. Beetje jammer.

Zeker de beste app op whisky gebied. Voor beginners is de database denk ik voldoende, en leuk om te zien wat de core-products van de distillers zijn.
Independent bottlers moet je zelf toevoegen. Een koppeling op dat gebied zou makkelijk zijn zodat niet iedereen zijn Signatory hoeft in te vullen, maar misschien komt dat nog.
Verder zou een sync tussen iPad en iPhone ideaal zijn.
Sterke app, met potentie tot Killer App.

I’m a huge dramlover and I’ve tried all the Iphone whisky-apps out there, but IMalts sticks out. Since the last update it works faster, more stabile. It contains hundreds of whiskies, information and the possibility to add you own tasting notes in a very accessible way. It’s all worth the money!

Have to correct my earlier comments due of a missunderstanding. Without an email account the app closes when you try to send an email. I thougt that it is not possible to enter new data. Meanwhile through the excellent support from the developers this is cleared. As I mentioned before the application itself is excellent with a lot of informations…

Mittlerweile gibt es viele Apps die sich dem Thema Whisky widmen. Bei den Datenbank – die sich auch zur Verwaltung der eigenen Sammlung oder den getesteten Whiskys eignen – ist iMalts die klar beste Applikation. Übersichtlich, einfach zu bedienen und bietet schon von Anfang an eine grosse vordefinierte Auswahl. Besonders hervor zu heben ist der Kontakt zum Programmierer der sehr schnell reagiert und auch auf Wünsche eingeht. Die zukünftigen Versionen, die z.B. die Möglichkeit bieten werden Informationen aus zu tauschen, werden iMalts zum absoluten Favoriten auf dem iPhone machen.
